Antique & Vintage Telephone Packaging Guidelines

Guidelines for Proper Packaging
You can help to ensure that irreplaceable telephone artifacts arrive safely with these packaging guidelines.

1. Wrap the handset separately from the telephone's base!
2. Remove protruding parts of the phone (ie: hand crank of magneto or transmitter mouthpieces) and wrap separately. For parts of telephones that protrude but can't be removed (ie: candlestick hook-switch) cover with rigid material like pieces of cardboard.
3. Use proper wrapping material - bubble wrap the telephone and it's separate parts - do not use newspaper to wrap a telephone!
4. Attached each separate bubble wrapped piece together with tape.
5. Use adequate cushioning material - Pad the telephone with several inches of Styrofoam peanuts or bubble wrap between the item and all six box sides.
6. Use a rigid box with flaps intact
7. Use strong tape designed for shipping
8. Do not use string or paper over-wrap
9. Use a single address label that has clear, complete delivery and return information
10. Place a duplicate address label inside the package
