On This Day in Telephone History March 19TH 1888 the United States Supreme Court sustained Bell’s Telephone Patent rights in every particular. The notable decision on appeals was one of the five most important suits filed by the American Bell Telephone Company’s counsel to protect the patents. “The Telephone Cases” of the 1870’s and 1880’s culminated with the United States Supreme Court decision 126 U.S. 1 in 1888. Henceforth, Alexander Graham Bell’s priority of telephone patents were upheld.
